We've spent billions on rescuing banks like RBS, now please use the opportunity to make sure they don't invest our money in bad projects.
Make sure that bailed-out banks:
- Stop investing in projects and companies that destroy the environment, fail to uphold human rights, or support oppressive regimes.
- Set and publish targets for reducing climate emissions resulting from lending to fossil fuel projects and companies.
- Prioritise lending to low-carbon companies, technologies and infrastructure.
Your personal information will be kept private and treated in accordance with this privacy policy.
Together we can make change happen. We own the
bailed-out banks, so we should have a say in how they are run. Please
sign the petition above and help build the pressure to clean up their
acts.
Currently the bailed out banks invest our money in all kinds of
harmful projects. RBS are Britain's
dirtiest bank, pouring vast sums of public money into projects and
companies driving climate change and human rights abuses. The
government should stop any bailed-out bank from behaving like this.
Owning the banks is an opportunity to make them work differently. Together we can persuade the Chancellor Alistair Darling to use our control of RBS to invest in projects which benefit people and the environment. Sustainable investments mean sustainable profits.
